A WEEKEND IN CORNWALL

The west country is still a very long way from London, Lavethan near Bodmin where we were invited for the week end is just over 250 miles from the King's Road. There are some very special houses and this is certainly one of them. The ancient manor of Lavethan a stone built manor house listed in the Domesday Book and partly remodelled in the mid 17th century is approached down a treelined avenue and overlooks a private valley through which a small river meanders. This must be one of the most beautiful bed and breakfast venues in England. There are also three cottages that are rented out with the wonderful names of 'Tom' 'Dick' and 'Harry'.........This is their website

and these are the house dogs......Luca the Italian grey hound who speaks Italian and his whippet companions.
Lunch in St Ives on Saturday, cold and windy no tourists and the most delicious meal

Snowdrops and blue skies on the last Saturday in January

followed by snow on Sunday...................
