PROVENCE AND NORTHANTS

Finally we managed to grab a couple of weeks at our house in the Var. Like England it has been incredibly wet and everything has grown and is so green. Our garden is a joy. The house is now let until the end of August when we will be heading back for some good French food and relaxation!

They are planting new vineyards in front of the house and the land has been cleared ready for the new vines.

As we drove through France I was struck by the poppies the intense redness

Back in England and straight up to the country for a photo shoot. The wild flowers are abundant and my favourite thing for flower arranging, they are both beautiful and simple, ideal for the country.

Gound Elder makes the prettiest of arrangements on a summer dining table

Wild Dog Roses come in every colour of pink and I chose antique linen table napkins dyed a strong   pink with the blue and white antique Spode plates for a lunch in the kitchen.

Outside in the paddock the grass grows and grows and 'Les Girls' do their best to keep it under control.....

The next posting will be about all the wonderful new stock that we have in, amongst which are two large gilt bronze lanterns, a pair of chandeliers, and some simply marvellous furniture.
